July Special

July Special

Rome in July is often seen as a synonym for scorching heat, sticky humidity, and blazing asphalt. And while that’s partly true, this image has led both locals and tourists to avoid the city more and more.

But that’s exactly why July has become an unexpectedly great time to visit the Eternal City.

With smart timing—early mornings or late afternoons—you can explore Rome’s iconic monuments and enjoy a summer in the city that’s far less crowded than you'd expect.

Plus, July offers a wealth of evening events: outdoor concerts, opera, theatre performances, and nightlife under the stars.

Need some tips?
Start your day at the Colosseum and the Roman Forum at sunrise or after 5 PM. Visit the Vatican Museums in the late afternoon (entry at 5 PM is ideal) and explore smaller gems like the Capitoline Museums or Palazzo Barberini.

Feeling like escaping the city walls? Head to Ostia Antica, a beautiful and lesser-known archaeological site, refreshed by a pleasant sea breeze. Or spend the day by Lake Albano in Castel Gandolfo—this summer, Pope Leo XIV is vacationing there, and you can catch his Angelus in the village square or attend one of his open-air Masses in the local churches.

In short, July in Rome is starting to feel good again.
